Abstract: In the paper we present the comparative assessment of radon data obtained from digitized observation and waterradon data obtained from the traditional simulated observation. The digitized observation of radon has been carried out in Liaogu-1 well for nearly fouryears. As compared with the traditional simulated observation, digitized observation data have the advantages of rapid data transmission, large amount of information and lower man-madeerror. It will greatly increase the high frequency and shortperiod information of radon, and will improve significantly our ability to catch short-term and impendent precursory anomalies. The results of com parative analysis in Liaogu-1 well show that the data of radon obtained from digitized observation, including their variation tendency, Finspection and tinspection, are not identical to those obtained from traditional simulated observation in the corresponding period. It indicates that physical meaning of radon obtained from digitized observation is not as same as that of waterradon obtained from the simulated observation, and that the radon obtained from digitized observation is a new observation item. The radon obtained from digitized observation com pared with the waterradon obtained from the simulated observation has the advantages of short-term and impendent precursory anomalies. Itillustrates that gas-water separation installation is an important link torealized digital automatic observation, and is a significant function to the obtained authentic and reliable observation results.
