Abstract: In this paper, the features of spatial-temporal distribution and processes of evolution of strong earthquake with MS≥ 7. 0 are studied in the Northern area of Tibet Plateau, and a preliminary physical explanation has also been given. The results show that the spatial locations of strong earthquake have been controlled by the main active faults in the area, and the intervals have certain regular features. Meanwhile, the processes of evolution have some common behaviors, for example: 1. a wide quiet area of moderate strong earthquake appeared in the gestation faults and its neighbor region for 10 years; 2. moderate strong quakes occurred more frequently in the research regionfr 2 to 5 years; 3. the last moderate strong earthquakes showed irregularity in spatial temporal distribution. All of above features have practice value in local earthquake prediction.
