Abstract: Hydrogen gas released by chemical and mechanical changes in crustal rocks closely correlates with fault movement and seismic activities. Observation array, including continuous observation points and mobile observation points,is established in the Anninghe fault zone and Zemuhe fault zone of China Earthquake Science Experiment site to monitor hydrogen concentrations, geotemperature, air temperature and atomospheric pressure. The array also provides an opportunity for studying the high-precision hydrogen observation technology. We describe the design ideas, construction process and operation condition of the observation array and conduct a preliminary analysis of the observation data. The results show that the construction of the array attains the prearranged technical index. The construction scheme and the technical specifications for the hydrogen observation points are also discussed. Continuous monitoring data of one year shows that the hydrogen background value is remarkably high in the north region than the south, which indicating the background characteristics of hydrogen in different tectonic regions.
