Abstract: Based on the analysis of the cause of interference caused by HVDC transmission to geoelectric field observation, the changes of geoelectric field, earth-fault current and the relationship between the ground electrode of the converter station and station location were analyzed by geoelectric field data of Dabaishe station disturbed by HVDC transmission in recent years. Meanwhile, the dominant orientation of rock fracture of site of geoelectric field interfered by HVDC was calculated. The results showed that the morphology of geoelectric field only changes dramatically when high voltage transmission earth-fault current begins to inject and stops injecting. The electric field intensity was proportional to the earth-fault current and inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the station location to the ground electrode of the converter station when HVDC transmission was interfered. The method calculating the dominant orientation of rock fracture of station location can discriminators effect HVDC interference by first 10 order harmonic amplitudes of tidal changes in geoelectric field.
