Abstract: It is an important and difficult problem to calibrate the borehole stress sensors in situ and calculate the relativ evariation of stress during long term observation. Conventio nally, three measuring compo nents are installed in measurement of the ground stress. Now we sug gest a new method that there are four stress measuring compo nents to be laid in the borehole. When one of the four measuring components is roughly calibrated, the others can be calibrated precisely relative to the calibrated one. In this article we present the variation of stress and the equation of self-check of the reliability of the bserved data.
