Study on the influence of subarray selection on the locating result

Abstract: Selecting 58 earthquakes occurred in Hebei Province and adjacent regions, rules of subarray selection are studied based on analyzing the influence of station distributions on the accuracy of locating result. The locating deviation, horizontal error, fitting residual with clearance angle, variation with near station and far station, and relation of locating deviation with horizontal error and fitting residual were discussed separately. The results show that it is suitable to select 7 to 9 stations for earthquake locating in rapid report. It is relatively suitable to evaluate the quality of the locating result with horizontal error.
