Analysis and Research of China's Reservoir Induced seismicity

Abstract: Through data collection from 29 reservoirs, where have occurred induced earthquakes in China, the authors analyzed the influence on induced earthquake caused by the storage capacity and the height of the dam, and also analyzed the influence on induced earthquake's occurrence probability and the magnitude caused by the length of water storing time, proposed reservoir earthquake should be divided into two categories or two stages. Based on research of 18 large and medium-sized reservoirs in Fujian and its neighboring areas, including statistic and comprehensive analysis of Shuikou, Mianhuatan, Jiemian and Shanxi reservoirs,the authors present the main factors of induced earthquakes which occurred in Shuikou and Shanxi reservoirs.
