Long-Wave-Radiation Patterns prior to the Wenchuan M8.0 Earthquake

Abstract: This paper analyzes the temporal-spatial OLR (Outgoing-Long-Wave-Radiation) distribution on the scales of yearly, monthly and daily before Wenchuan M8.0 earthquake using satellite remote sensing data. The calculated results show that a kind of OLR intensification appeared in the vicinity of the epicenter area, which may be an indicator for diagnosing the seismogenic areas of strong earthquakes.
