Abstract: The Institute of Earthquake Science of China Earthquake Administration has established an earthquake precursory observing system which includes an earthquake precursory network center-Shisanling earthquake central site and 8 unmanned earthquake precursory observing sites, relying on “China Digital Earthquake Observing Network” program. The precursory observing sites or observing equipments are linked to the Internet with the CDMA1X wireless network of China Unicom, and then accessed to the Shisanling precursor observing network center by opening up a safe, stable transmission tunnel between sites and the network center with the VPN (Virtual Private Network) technology. Take the Shisanling earthquake precursory observing system as an example, this paper mainly introduces how to integrate earthquake precursory observing system by the use of VPN technology and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) wireless network. The successful operation of Shisanling earthquake precursory system proved that the mode of VPN plus CDMA in the establishment of network for an earthquake precursory observing system can be done with less investment and the advantages of quick effective and reliable data transmission could be widely applied.
