Performance Evaluation of Indonesia-China Digital Seismographs Network and Earthquake Automatic Location System

Abstract: This paper first briefly introduces the construction of Indonesia-China Digital Seismographs Network (ICDSN) and data processing system. Then we evaluate seismic monitoring capability. Selecting the seismic data of 32 large earthquakes in Indonesian region from 2009 from the, the automatic location results of ICDSN and USGS published results are compared and analyzed. The results show that the automatic location system of ICDSN is stable in operation, automatic location results for large earthquakes are basically credible. It can output primary location result and warning of large earthquakes in Indonesia or surrounding areas in 2 minutes. It takes 3~4 minutes for accurate results. For earthquakes with magnitude above 6, it takes 5 minutes for accurate results. ICDSN not only improves seismic monitoring capability, earthquake location accuracy and earthquake quick report of Indonesia, but also provides effective guarantee for tsunami warning.
