Abstract: In order to rapidly locate remote sensing images acquired with unconventionality ways during post-earthquake emergency stage, we developed a method of rapid remote sensing image location by construction of the flight path equation and the location of image sequences. An auto-positioning program is developed accordingly. A set of high resolution remote sensing images is used for experiment. The images were obtained during emergency stage after 2010 Yushu earthquake and lack of geographical reference. Based on rough registration of two or three images manually, this method is used for quick location of images. Random sampling to verify the location precision shows that the fitting precision of quadratic function method is better than linear function method. The result implicates that an obvious improvement has been obtained for rapid images location by losing some spatial precision and it is expected to meet the requirement of earthquake emergency.
