Study on the characteristics and mechanism of deformation anomaly in Yantai region before Xiuyan earthquake with MS5.4

Abstract: By using the methods of direct harmonic analysis and velocity synthesis, the deformation data observed at Yantai monitoring station before and after the MS5.4 Xiuyan earthquake were analyzed. The results show that short-term deformation anomaly emerged before the event. The anomaly probably is the result of regional stress field enhancement caused by the motion of Weihai-penglai fault triggered by Xiuyan seismogenic fault.
