Abstract: In order to study the active boundaries of crustal blocks and seismic activity, all the data of 248 short leveling lines across faults from 189 sits in eastern China including North-South Belt are processed and analyzed with the same method and standards in this paper.According to their distribution, the sites are divided into different areas and belts. The average rate of fault activity and its mechanical property are calculated and analyzed respectively for different areas and belts, and then discussion on the relation between seismic activity and characteristics of fault activity and its distribution is made. Finally, the probability for strong earthquake occurrence in different areas or belts is discussed.
