Abstract: On 12 July 1995, a strong earthquake with MS 7.3 occurred on the border between China and Myanmar, to the West of Meng lian, Yunnan Province, and the gravity anomaly was detected by the gravity network of WYEPTS that located to the West of the Red River fault 280 km away from the epicenter, with the average variation value of 70×10-8ms-2 and the maximum variation value of 114×10-8ms-2. The Gravity group of Survey team, Institute of Earthquake Engineering of Yunnan Province has given a good medium-short term prediction for this earthquake according to the anomalous variation in gravity.
