Abstract: By using the repeated GPS observ ation data (1996~1999), the recent state of crustal horizontal movement along Shanxi faul tbelt is analyzed. The results show that: The activity of Shanxi belt is cont rolled by the NW, NWW-SE, SEE compressio nal stress field and there is nost rike-slip movement. The horizo ntal mov ement in the south is less activ e than that in the no rth. The maximumv alue of local strain reaches 1×10-6 .
