Abstract: The feedback force coefficient of the force balance feedback seismometer is a technical parameter composed of multiple physical quantities, which plays an important role in the sensitivity and instrument response of the seismometer. The existing method of measuring the feedback force coefficient carries out static calculation and measurement by measuring the magnetic induction intensity of the magnetic cylinder, the length of the coil and the mass of the pendulum. This method is used within the natural frequency whose frequency band is very narrow. Also, it is greatly affected by the mechanical properties of the pendulum. In this paper, a dynamic testing method is proposed to calculate the feedback force coefficient by measuring the relevant physical quantities at different frequency points in the frequency band higher than the natural frequency. The testing process is decoupled from the mechanical pendulum, so that the testing has nothing to do with the mechanical properties of the pendulum. The experimental test shows that the measurement result of this method is stable within 6 times of natural frequency. The relative accuracy is 4% and the absolute accuracy is 0.29 m·s-2·A-1. Compared with the traditional method, this method has wider frequency band, larger dynamic range and simple operation. It is of great significance to self-test the sensitivity of seismometer.
