Abstract: Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is adopted to explore underlying active faults in the east of the East Kunlun fault zone. In the shallow cover area, using reasonable parameters and data processing, radar profile images can clearly show the morphological characteristics of underlying faults and geotechnical layering. Combining with the depositional sequence, we can analyse and evaluate the fault activity. Experiments show that GPR is a kind of effective method in exploration of underlying active fault in shallow cover areas.
