Abstract: Data from 9 GPS observation stations in Xinjiang and temperature and air pressure in nearby areas were analysed using correlation and regression methods. The influencing mechanism of temperature and air pressure on GPS vertical component has also been discussed. The results show that (1) Annual variations in GPS vertical component with period of 1a are mainly caused by air pressure; (2) Impacts of air pressure on GPS vertical component are synchronized, represented by short-period oscilations; (3) Annual amplitudes of GPS vertical component increases with latitude because annual temperature difference increases with latitude.
