Abstract: Based on single scatter model, using earthquake waveform data recorded by Jiangsu earthquake networks, coda wave Q values in Jiangsu area was calculated. The results show that, Q values in Jiangsu area is high overall, but there exist obvious differences in different areas. The Q value in the south is higher than the north. We respectively studied four areas where seismic stations are relatively intensive, the character of geological structure is evident and coda wave Q0 is relatively focused, and obtained the characteristic relationships between Q values and frequency of the four areas in Jiangsu. Q value in the south of Jiangsu to Maoshan fault zone is much higher than other areas, and Q value is lower in the central part of Jiangsu to the coastal areas. Q value is in the middle level in the north and in the neighbourhood of Lianyungang. Comparing tectonic and earthquake activities in the four areas shows that there is a relationship among Q values, crustal movement and earthquake activity.
