Abstract: The blade method was applied in the paper to research seismic distribution in the selected capital region(114.0°~115.0°E, 39.8°~40.4°N). The blade method is specified for the tectonic regions, where earthquakes distribute sparsely and the distribution of the faults can't be noticed intuitively. Combined with some statistic method and spatial scanning method, the blade method can be used to assess the linear distribution of earthquakes and further detect the faults. In the region selected there occurred only 906 earthquakes between M1.0 to M5.0 in the past 30 years, therefore, it is appropriate for applying the blade method. According to the result the identified lines through blade method can basically describe the regional tectonic setting.
