Abstract: Based on the geothermal water level data of Xiying well and the earthquake data recorded by the seismic network of Shaanxi Province, the correlation between the activity of geothermal water and regional seismic activity in Xi'an area is studied. The results show that the activity of geothermal water in Xi'an area is obviously related to the regional seismic activity, and has the closest relation with the seismic activity in Xi'an and its neighboring area, indicating that they are both controlled by Chang'an-Lintong fault. Thus the affected area of the geothermal water exploitation in Xi'an city is mainly limited within Xi'an and its neighboring area, where Chang'an-Lintong fault is distributed.
