Abstract: Basedon the data of hydrothermal spots along the Shanxi seismic belt, the heat annually released at each spot is calculated. The relation between the heat annually released at hydrothermal spots and seismic activity in Shanxi region is analyzed. The re-sult shows that in the region where the lower the heatreleased, the more frequently the large earthquakes occur, but the more rarely the moderate and small earthquakes appear. On the other h and, the medium and small earthquakes occur frequently in the region where the heatreleased higher, and large earthquakes appearrarely. The re searchalso shows that the energy, accumulated by crustal activity in Shanxi region and released an nu-ally in the form of heat is equal to the energy released by an earthquake with M7. 3. It weakens the seismogenic process of strong earthquakes and breaks free from the recur-rence interval of strong earthquakes.
