Abstract: Using Ec-k template chart which can be used to decide the energy that was released by seismic sequence, we calculated the k values of the attenuation coefficients of the 39 seismic sequences of moderately strong earthquakes. The results shows: ① While the k values are larger than 1, the energy attenuation of the seismic sequences is normal; While they are no more than 1, the energy attenuation of the seismic sequences is abnormal, the possibility of larger earthquakes or aftershocks occurring in the future is big. ② The examination of the moderately strong earthquakes shows that 74 percent of seismic sequences tally with the above-mentioned determined norm. ③ We have calculated the h values of the frequency attenuation coefficients of seismic sequences, and found that the 59 percent of seismic sequences tally with the determined norm of the h values. ④ We have also found that the predictive effect is much better by using the method of k value no matter that it is small or moderate seismic sequence or large, through detailedly analyzing the second typical seismic sequences we found in monitory tracing.
