Abstract: Distinct linear tectonics on the RS images showed the faults of the North-South seismic belt. In this paper, we studied the intersection area of East Kunlun fault and Longmenshan fault belts. By carefully interpreting the ETM images, we discovered three main faults of NW, NE and NS trending surround the Minshan Mountain roughly forming a triangle. Structures in this area are complicated, there are several strong earthquakes happened such as Wudu earthquake (1879, M8.0), Diexi earthquake (1933, M7.5), Songpan earthquake (1979, M7.6). In this paper we tried to interpret the faults along this section and to study the characteristics of tectonic activity and Seismotectonics.
