Abstract: The infrared radiation temperature field before rock failure and fault stick-slipping has been studied by remote sensing observation. It is revealed that before rock failure the band-like thermal images appeared in the position of future faults, and before stick-slipping the lock points of fault show the temperature increases. The measurement of acoustic emission shows that before rock failure the plenty of micro fractures are produced. The faults and micro fracture in crust before earthquakes can provide paths for transference of thermal energy in crust, and cause the thermal infrared precursor of earthquakes on the ground.
