Abstract: The high speed frequency spread microwave technique is a high technology developed in recent years, which is the main means used in developing the wide band network technology. It is first time to adopt the high-speed frequency spread microwave network for China Seismological Bureau. In the project of " The Construction of the High Speed Frequency Spread Microwave Linkage in the Beijing Area", the frequency spread microwave of 2 to 3 Mbps has been used to link the computer networks at the institutions of China Seismological Bureau in Beijing area (Center for analysis and Prediction, Seismic Data and Information Center, The Institute of Geophysics, the Institute of Geology, the Institute of Crustal Dynamics and the Center of Comprehensive Observations) and the Seismological Bureau of Beijing Municipality, to form a platform of computer WAN frequency spread microwave network that link the computer networks in the area. At the same time, a communication channel to the China Science and Tech nology Network has been set up with the frequency spread micro wave so that the computer networks at the institutions in the Beijing area and in the provincial (or municipal) bureaus all over the country have been linked to Internet.
Key words: Beijing area, Frequency spread Microwave, Earthquake disaster prevention and mitigation, Broad band network
