Abstract: We calculated time-frequency analysis of geomagnetic station data in Western China (West of 108°E) by the smooth pseudo-Wigner-Ville distribution( SPWVD), and studied the amplitude variation of 4.4 h period after filtering the geomagnetic Z component from 2007 to 2015. From three typical examples of the Minxian earthquake, the Lushan earthquake and the Ludian earthquake, we get some results: ① Before the threee earthquakes, the 4.4 h amplitude of the Z component of the surrounding stations had occurred simultaneous high value anomaly within one month; ② The frequency of high-value anomaly in the Minxian earthquake and the Lushan earthquake had increased significantly in one month, more than twice the annual average; ③ In one month before the three earthquakes, the time-frequency anomaly of the stations significantly increased, and the amplitude reached near the extreme value of the whole year.
