Abstract: The tidal effect of seismicity in Liaoning Province is analyzed. The results indicate that the occurrence of earthquakes with MS ≥ 4. 8 has obvious correlation with the Lunar phase. The probability of occurrence is bigger at first quarter and last quarter of the moon than at other days. We analyzed distribution of local mean lunar time of significant earthquakes. When the angle difference of local lunar time of significant earthquakes is continuously smaller than 45°one by one for three times, the main shock should occur very soon. Furthermore, we can identify foreshocks sequence and stronger aftershocks by using this method.
