Abstract: We select Haicheng-Gaizhou area (122°~123°E, 40°~41°N)in Liaoning province as study area and use Generalized Polarity and Amplitude Technique-GPAT to inverse and get 184 focal mechanism solutions from 2012 to June 2017. Then we use the Misfit Angle to analyze characteristic of focal mechanism consistency parameters. The inversion results show that: ① The strike-slip faulting and normal faulting are dominant in the study area. The focal mechanisms in Haicheng are mainly sinistral strike-slip faulting with NW—SE nodal planes and normal faulting with NWW nodal planes. The seismogenic structure is dominated by NW Haicheng River fault. The earthquakes with NE oriented nodal plane may be controlled by Jinzhou fault zone. ② The seismogenic structure in Qingshiling is a NW-trending unknown fault conjugated with the north section of Jiuzhai—Gaixian fault, and seismicity in West sea area may be contolled by NE-trending en-echelon faults and the NW-trending unknown fault. ③ The earthquakes with larger magnitude often occurred after consistency enhancement. The focal mechanisms have strong consistency, indicating that stress is building up in the study area. However, due to the quiet seismicity since 2016, it′s difficult to estimate the stress state at present.
