Abstract: To extract weak seismo-magnetic information from strong background field, we carry out time- frequency analysis of geomagnetic Z-component in Sichuan—Yunnan region using Smoothed and Pseudo Wigner- Ville Distribution( SPWVD). By studying different periodic components of the filtered Z-component , which main periods are 2~6 h,we find that the 2.4 h periodic component is easy to be affected by external field, and the 4.4 h periodic component shows obvious high value of anomalies before many significant earth- quakes in the region.
